Lateral violence - Assignment Example Once an incident has occurred, employees are expected to report to their direct supervisors who are expected to act on the incident immediately. When individuals report incidences that make them uneasy, the company offers them psychological support. The strategy is very effective in reducing employees stress. It also increases their level of motivation because they are assured that the company appreciates them. Incidences of workplace violence are usually reported according to the company’s procedures. Every employee is usually trained on the basic ideas of workplace violence so they are expected to respect each other. However, as stated above, most employees are not aware of what constitutes to lateral violence. These incidences are usually reported to direct supervisors. Supervisors have the responsibility to make sure that all the employees comply with the company’s occupational violence policies and procedures. They are also expected to make sure that staffs report their exposure to occupational violence. Finally, they are expected to investigate incidences of occupational violence once they have been reported. Once an incident has been investigated and there has been a demonstrated violent or aggressive event associated with an employee, the employee is mentally assessed. The management recognizes that some violent incidences like those associated with bullying, workplace harassment, horizontal violence, and relational aggression need psychological help. The experiences from violent experiences have a high risk of negatively affecting the morale of employees leading to lower productivity. Health support also positively affects the reputation of the company which is regarded as a good employer. The aggressor on the other hand is usually punished for the offence.
